The first CSA pickups begin this week!
We’ve been busy planting, weeding, watering, brainstorming, wishing-it-would-actually-storm, and much much more in preparation for the upcoming season. We’re excited to commence pickups, as the greens are bustin’ out like mad, and fresh-as-can-be salads after a winter without is such a joy!
Pickup Days & Times
Wednesday, June 10th : 2pm-7pm | Saturday, June 13th : 1pm-5pm
For this week’s share, you can expect to get yourselves acquainted with these lovely greens:
Asian Greens | Spinach | Lettuce | Garlic Scapes
Radish | Arugula | Edible Flowers | Green Onions | Cilantro
Roasted Scape & Radish Salad Recipe
Chop your lettuce, mizuna, and arugula into a large bowl.
To make a dressing, combine olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette, lemon juice, a splash of soy sauce and maple syrup to taste. Dress the greens.
In a skillet, heat oil of choice in pan on stovetop while chopping scapes to length you desire. Leave them long and googly if that’s your style! Saute with a little salt until scapes are nicely seared.
Slice radishes into tasty full moons and sprinkle on top of greens. Add scapes, chopped green onions, and edible flowers. Grind fresh pepper to top. Enjoy!
Got Egg Cartons?
We will gladly take any cardboard egg cartons you have that are in reusable condition! We will recirculate our eggs in these after they have been able to sit untouched for a spell to avoid the spread of possible germs, and reduce our consumption by reusing what is already around!
For those of you that expressed interest in weekly herbal products, Oona will be trying to have at least one item per week available for an add-on to your share. This year is a test run, so paying in full in advance won’t be an option at this time, but she appreciates the enthusiasm!
This week’s option is the Mint + Nettle Tea Blend listed in the Add-Ons section above.
You can look forward to immune-boosting tinctures, healing salves, loose-leaf herbal teas, and more in the future!
Many thanks to you all for embarking on this journey with us. We are excited to share with you all the bounty of the soil this year!
